Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join our Primary Mainstream Paediatric Service on a permanent basis, 4 days a week. For the first 2 years, the successful candidate will be part of a "Locality Working Pilot", working within a small team to assess and screen primary and secondary aged young people who are at risk of exclusion or poor attendance. The role will also involve mentoring and training for school staff, supporting a delegated skills framework.
At the end of the pilot project, the successful applicant will be reassigned to a speech and language therapy role within a different part of the service.
Main duties of the job
- To assess and evaluate children and their communication context.
- To develop appropriate communication targets, and mentor staff and parents in skill building and development of nurturing language learning environments.
- To provide information and advice to others regarding the management and care of clients with communication difficulties.
