An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and inspirational individual to take up the post of Head of Nursing within the Surgery and Critical Care Group.
The Head of Nursing will provide expert objective nursing leadership across the Care Group and the Trust in delivering high-quality and safe care to children, young people and their families and carers. The post holder is responsible for the oversight of the delivery of safe, effective, well led, and responsive care.
The Head of Nursing is also accountable for working collaboratively with the Associate and Clinical Director to ensure the strategic objectives of the Trust are met. You will also line manage the senior nursing team within the Care Group.
Applicants should have extensive and a broad range of clinical nursing experience at Band 8 and must have current NMC registration and be a registered Children's Nurse.

Main duties of the job
- Leading & developing professional standards, education, and nursing practice within the care group to ensure high quality standards are delivered, fostering a culture which values continuing professional development & strives for excellence in the delivery of patient care
- Providing clinical & professional nursing advice & leadership to the care group as a member of the triumvirate. Playing an active role in care group business including financial, performance, workforce planning & quality decision making. Provide an expert clinical perspective on service developments & their implications for patients
- The provision of high-quality services through effective risk management, the development of systems to measure and monitor the quality of care & the implementation of Trust wide safety initiatives to deliver high quality, safe & effective care within available resources.
- Ensuring there are effective governance systems in place to oversee the delivery of safe & effective care.
- Ensuring that the Trust patient experience strategy is effective and that service improvement is informed by patient feedback & engagement with children, young people, parents, & carers
- Ensuring systems are in place within the care group to support the education & development of pre & post registration nursing staff, including oversight of mandatory training and appraisals
- Working with the Chief Nurse & Deputy Chief Nurse to support and embed Trust wide nursing developments.
