Job summary
The CAMHS Inpatient Lodges are looking for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to work 30 hours a week, who has a passion for working with young people and families and experience working in mental health and/or learning disability settings.
The successful candidate would join the multidisciplinary team to provide person-centred assessments and treatment for young people receiving inpatient care for a variety of mental health presentations, including additional neurodevelopmental conditions.
The post holder will be working with a team of Mental Health Nurses, Doctors, Psychologists, Social Workers and other Allied Health Professionals to provide assessment, individual therapy and group interventions. You will offer regular managerial and clinical supervision and will be working within a team that is committed to ongoing professional development.
The post holder will also work closely with OT colleagues, to support and lead the continued development of the Occupational Therapy Service for Inpatient CAMHS, and offer clinical supervision to junior and/or unqualified members of the team.
Main duties of the job
- To provide leadership to the CAMHS OT team, and represent your profession within the CAMHS service, linking in with wider Trust initiatives that are relevant to your role
- To provide line management and support a clinical supervision structure for the CAMHS Inpatient OT team
- To provide a highly specialised Occupational Therapy service that includes assessment, treatment, advice and management of children and young people with a range of needs including mental health, learning disability and neurodevelopmental conditions presentations, across an inpatient CAMHS setting.
- To provide activities of daily living assessments and intervention to help young people who are moving towards independent living.
- To act as a source of expertise and demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in the highly skilled management of children and young people with mental health and learning disabilities who are presenting with behaviours of concern.
- To act as a source of expertise and demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in the area of sensory assessment and sensory integration.

- To provide specialist advice to inter-agency professional staff and to provide clinical education and training to others including more junior therapists, support staff and students.
- To take a lead role in the management of more difficult and complex cases within a multi-disciplinary team approach acting as an autonomous practitioner.
- To occasionally work in the community as a lone practitioner in line with the Trusts lone worker policy.
- To provide leadership and line management to a team of OTs working in CAMHS. To provide clinical supervision for OTs working in CAMHS.
