Job summary

The Estates team at Sheffield Children's are looking for a woodworking specialist who can join their friendly team to support the maintenance and improvement of the built environment at Sheffield Children's, ensuring that the site is patient and colleague ready.

Both full-time and part-time working will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The focus of the role is to carry out a range of duties of a carpentry or joinery nature.

A typical day could involve examples from the following:

  • Inspect, identify, and repair faults
  • Internal and external woodwork repairs and renewals
  • Construction and fitting of new items e.g. benches, shelves, kitchen furniture, partitions, and cupboards
  • Repair and diagnose failure of fixtures and fittings including locks, ironmongery, and door furniture
  • Furniture and floor covering repairs
  • New and structural alteration work e.g. construction of stud partition walls, fitting door frames, hanging doors and laying of joists, decking and ceilings
  • Safety inspections of fire doors, window restrictions and curtain tracks
  • Minor roof and building repairs

  • Skilled in joinery and carpentry
  • Reliable individual who can work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Flexible, professional, and calm approach
  • Good understanding of hazards and risks to self and others
  • Current driving licence
  • Planning and time management skills
