Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Information Team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust as an Information Analyst on a permanent part-time basis.

The postholder will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role. They will share the Trust values and be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

The post holder will be a key member of the Information Team, who are responsible for the provision of high quality information for performance and operational management, strategic planning and patient care.

The Information Analyst will have specialised technical and analytical skills, along with a good knowledge and experience of working in an information team, understanding Information Standards and performance targets.

The Information Team operates on a hybrid working model, including both on site and remote working.

Main duties of the job

The Information Analyst will be responsible for:

  • To provide an analytical and reporting service across the Trust. Areas of data that will be analysed will include Trust activity (Acute, Community & Mental Health), RTT, A&E waiting times, diagnostic waits and data from various clinical information systems.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for information as directed presenting the information in a meaningful and appropriate format.
  • Develop and provide reports demonstrating the Trust's performance for internal/external audiences.
  • Submission of accurate and timely information national/external returns to required bodies.
  • Use of SQL to an expert standard in every day working practice to extract data from the Trust's Business Intelligence solution/data warehouse.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • This post requires close working with the Performance Team, Care Groups, IM&T, Finance, eSystems team and varying colleagues throughout the Trust.
  • To provide an analytical and reporting service across the Trust. Areas of data that will be analysed will include Trust activity (Acute, Community & Mental Health), RTT, A&E waiting times, diagnostic waits and data from various clinical information systems.
  • Production and analysis of information to support the Trusts annual planning cycle.
  • Submission of accurate and timely nationally mandated datasets (ECDS, CDS, MHSDS, CSDS) to the Secondary Users Service (SUS+) and Strategic Data Collection Service (SDCS).
  • Submission of accurate and timely information national/external returns to required bodies.
  • Develop and provide reports demonstrating the Trusts performance for internal/external audiences.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for information, including Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, as directed. Utilise available technologies and software to present the information in an appropriate format.
  • Analyse complex and patient sensitive data to show Trust trends and identify and highlight any areas of significance. Investigate any outlying areas using own initiative.
  • Identify reporting areas that would benefit from automation or development as self-service reports. Develop and implement any such reports and ensure users understand the purpose and how to use them.
  • Use of SQL to an expert standard in every day working practice to extract data from the Trusts Business Intelligence solution/data warehouse.
  • Use of PowerBI/SSRS to produce reports based on user requirements.
  • Frequent use of Trusts Patient Administration Systems (PAS), Electronic Patient Records (EPR) and other clinical information systems to assist in data analysis and investigation.
