An exciting opportunity has arisen within the pharmacy department at the Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust for a L3 Apprentice Pre Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician.
The opportunity offers 2 years comprehensive training in all aspects of pharmacy services on a rotational basis.
Individuals will need to be highly organised and motivated and be capable of meeting multiple deadlines. We will expect applicants to have an understanding of the role of a Pharmacy Technician (or have previous experience of working in a pharmacy).
Main duties of the job
To be eligible for consideration for a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician interview, you must meet all essential criteria and have:
4 GCSEs at grade C/ 4 or above including English, Maths and 1 Science.
Applicants MUST have the required minimum qualifications and will be asked to bring original certificates to interview.
Students who successfully complete the 2 year course and associated study will be required to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

To gain the relevant skills, knowledge and work experience requirements for registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), trainees will undertake a two year work experience to complete the Pearson L3 Diploma in the Principles and Practices for Pharmacy technician's.
- To dispense prescriptions and medicines requisitions for patients, wards and departments of the Trust following standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the supervision of a pharmacy technician.
- To issue prescriptions to patients.
- To Final Accuracy Check dispensed items.
- To participate in the operation of efficient stock control and Procurement management systems for the various areas within the pharmacy, wards and departments.
- Participate in the Technician ward service for Medicine Reconciliation including Supply of medicines, Patients own Drug Checks and medicine history taking.
