10PA LOCUM CONSULTANT PAEDIATRIC UROLOGIST

Applications are invited for a full time Locum Consultant Paediatric Urologist required to join the Paediatric Surgery team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 12 month post and will join another 2 full time Urologists in providing the service to Sheffield and surrounding catchment areas.

The post is designed for a Paediatric Urologist interested in a job share of on call duties, split with one of our established urologists. We would also consider someone wanting to work a full general on call, or could negotiate for no general paediatric surgical on call. This being the case the colleague would be expected to make up PA's by working weekends, likely extended day, and make a substantial contribution to clinics where travel was necessary.

Main duties of the job

The majority of elective activity will be in Urology however the post holder will need to contribute to general surgical activity both in hours and as part of on-call. The candidate would cover urological emergencies whilst on call and on an ad hoc basis at other times. In addition to urology training candidates should be trained in all aspects of emergency General Paediatric Surgery, including Neonatal surgery.

Applicants should possess, or be within six months of receiving, the CCST in Paediatric Surgery at the time of the appointment, have had appropriate experience within a dedicated paediatric and neonatal surgical unit, and have had post CCST Urology Fellowship training.

If the person appointed elects to undertake a maximum part time contract he/she will be required to devote substantially the whole of his/her professional time to the duties of the post.

The Sheffield Children's Hospital Trust supplies the physical and emotional needs of the children of Sheffield, providing the main acute hospital, CAMHS, and community services, as well as being a secondary and tertiary referral centre, receiving patients from South Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, Bassetlaw and North Lincolnshire and Goole.

The hospital is situated on the south-west aspect of Sheffield approximately one mile from the city centre. It is close to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, (incorporating the Jessop wing-obstetrics and neonatology) the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Weston Park Hospital, the Medical School and the main University Campus.
