Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Epilepsy Clinical Nurse to join our established team of Specialist Epilepsy / Neurology Nurses working within the Paediatric Neurology service at Sheffield Children's (NHS) Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a key member of the Epilepsy team, who provides Specialist support to children/young people diagnosed with Epilepsy.

As a Clinical Nurse specialist in Epilepsy you will have a breadth of knowledge and skills within the field of Paediatric Epilepsy, have excellent decision making capabilities and proven ability to lead a team.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Paediatric Neurologists to provide teaching, information, telephone advice and support for children/families in all aspects of the speciality. They will also undertake regular nurse led epilepsy review clinics and provide regular support and advice to inpatients under the care of the Paediatric Neurologists. They will provide regular commitment to ward staff training to ensure the provision of appropriate epilepsy care for in-patients.

As a band 7 clinical nurse specialist you will be contribute to the day to day management and leadership of the service with the ability to deliver high quality care to our patients along with inspiring and leading others to achieve this.

Your skills should enable you to meet the requirements of this demanding post which includes balancing operational management, professional leadership as well as the active development of the service.
