Job summary
In response to NHS England's Strategy and Service Specification for the future of Genomics services in England, Newcastle Teaching Hospitals, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Sheffield Children's Trust and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals have formed the North East and Yorkshire Genomic Laboratory Hub (NEY GLH): an exciting collaboration to provide services for Genomics across the North East and Yorkshire. The combined size of our geography makes this the largest collaboration in the country with the Trusts offering a range of both general and specialist hospital services with excellent clinical outcomes for patients. We have an international reputation for excellence in specialist care, research and academic training.
We are looking to recruit to the post of Clinical Scientist Service Lead for the Gastrohepatology Specialist Service, based at Sheffield, with hybrid working options and potentially with some travel across the GLH geography.
Main duties of the job
- Leading a group of scientific staff to deliver timely, high-quality genomic services in the Gastrohepatology Specialist Service.
- Developing your specialist knowledge and expertise, across genomic technologies.
- Working with clinicians and other laboratories at local, regional and national levels on behalf of the GLH, and facilitating multidisciplinary meetings.
- Driving service development.
- Undertaking research and innovation activity.
