Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Specialist Occupational Therapist to come and join our well established Community Rehab Team,
The Specialist Occupational Therapist for Enablement and IMC will work across community settings, predominantly within the Craven Area, but also supporting the wider Community Rehab Team as required .
Providing clinical support and interventions, along with existing team members , to enable Home First discharges from Hospital Settings and Provide Rehab services in our Craven Intermediate care beds. The community rehab team provides specialist assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation in intermediate care beds and in patients own homes.
This role is key in facilitating safe and timely hospital discharges local hospitals, in conjunction with Craven Enablement services as well as ensuring IMC beds are used to best effect and are supported to ensure best use of resource
Main duties of the job
To undertake a supporting role to the Team Leader managing, planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating therapy plans as part of this broad MDT.
To provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation in the home and IMC beds.
To act as a source of specialist knowledge and provide an advisory service to other ANHSFT therapists and members of the MDT in the management of Community Rehab patients.
To lead in the specialist assessment and treatment of patients within community who may have complex and chronic presentations and determine clinical diagnosis and any therapy treatment indicated and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
To provide specialist training and education for all grades of staff and other health professionals in the therapeutic management of community rehab patients.
To provide effective student training and development

Essential
- Degree or equivalent pre-registration award in Occupational Therapy
- State registrations with the Health Care Professions Council and Royal College of Occupational Therapists
- Completion of course in Professional Practice education
Desirable
- Successful completion of a professionally validated specialist courses
- MSc modules in a relevant area of practice
- Leadership courses
- Member of relevant Professional special interest groups/organisations
Experience
Essential
- Relevant and recent experience working at band 5 level in rehab, reablement , community settings
- Relevant and recent experience working in multiple specialties ideally within Rehab , acute care, care of older people.
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working and working collaboratively with other professions and agencies including statutory, private and voluntary sector services
- Experience of guideline development, implementation and audit
- Experience of clinical supervision both as supervisee and supervisor
- Recent experience of student training.
