Job summary
The post holder will have operational leadership responsibility for the children's safeguarding services ensuring that structures, systems and processes are in place across the Trust whilst making appropriate use of available resources.
The post holder will provide whole organisational safeguarding expertise, through the provision of highly specialised assessment, analysis, advice and support.
The post holder will be expected to be visible and accessible to colleagues including the executive lead and the senior leadership teams. Assurance will be provided by the post holder in line with national and local safeguarding standards to the executive leadership, the Trusts Quality and Safety committee, commissioners and regulators.
The post holder will act as an exemplary role model to staff across the Trust for all issues relating to children's safeguarding.
The post holder will liaise internally with all wards/departments, as well as externally with Local Safeguarding Children Partnerships, Clinical Commissioning Groups and other agencies, in order to lead on the development of safeguarding children practice.
The post holder will fulfil the role requirements for child sexual abuse and child exploitation lead.

- Have a minimum of three-years' experience related to caring for babies/children, be currently practising in the field of safeguarding/child protection and have an awareness of forensic safeguarding matters.
Desirable
- Have completed specific post-registration training at degree level in safeguarding children and young people/child protection (prior to commencement in the post).
