Senior Therapy Assistant - Children's Therapies (Band 3)

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic senior therapy assistant to join the Childrens therapies service at Airedale General Hospital on a fixed term contract for 12 months, working in the Physiotherapy , Occupational therapy and Autism assessment teams

The post holder will be responsible for activities delegated to them and will work mainly without direct supervision but will have immediate access to a clinician for advice and direction as required.

Therapy assistants in Childrens therapies work in the Child Development Centre, other health sites, in schools and nurseries, and patient homes..

Assistants are expected to continually improve their knowledge and skills and develop collaborative working relationships with therapy colleagues to enhance patient care. Duties are varied and include some direct patient contact, administration and housekeeping tasks.

The post holder will be expected to have a level 3 QCF/Diploma/NVQ qualification in health and social care, or equivalent relevant education qualifications. . They will understand the principles of therapeutic input, and have experience of working with children and young people

Main duties of the job

Independently undertake basic interventions

Provide clinical administration support

Support therapists with complex cases

Work in partnership with patients, carers, the multi disciplinary team and wider services.

Participate in activities to improve services

Assist with general housekeeping of equipment and accommodation

Work flexibly according to patient and service needs

Childrens Therapies is an inclusive, friendly and flexible service for both patients and staff.

Our core services are Mon - Friday 8-5 pm

We are a mixed team of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists , Psychologists and our support workers. We have a dedicated admininstration team , and we work closely with our paediatricians, dietitians other health colleagues and in partnership with parents, carers, early years, education and voluntary sector .
