Job summary

The pharmacy service at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has a high profile and is well integrated into multi-disciplinary teams, providing a much valued contribution to patient care. This is an exciting time for our Pharmacy Department as we continue to improve and develop our pharmacy services.

As a key member of the pharmacy department, the post holder will work closely with the Pharmacy Operations Manager in the delivery, organisation and management of a safe and effective pharmacy service supporting the coordination of all the pharmacy services. The post holder will have direct responsibility for the Dispensary and ward based medicines management service.

The role requires excellent leadership and organisational skills, a customer-centred compassionate approach, strong communication and influencing skills, resilience, and an ability to secure engagement from staff and service users.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Support the Pharmacy Operations Manager in leading and managing the pharmacy services.
  • Have direct responsibility for leading, developing and organising the dispensary and ward-based medicines management service in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Be the lead for education & training for the NVQ L2 and NVQ L3.
  • Work closely with the Pharmacy Operational Manager and the Pharmacy Leadership Team in strategic and operational business planning, implementation and monitoring, promoting a collaborative culture, embedding effective leadership, and supporting the Trust's governance framework and transformation agenda.
