Job summary

We are looking for band 5 Paediatric trained nurses or soon to qualify students to join our enthusiastic and friendly department. If you have a positive attitude to ensuring children receive the best possible care, we'd love to hear from you.

Working with us will provide you with a broad range of skills and experiences which will help in your career progression.

Following significant investment in our paediatric nurse staffing we are delighted to confirm that our newly agreed work force model aligns to RCN staffing recommendations for CYP including supernumerary nurse in charge.

This will enable you to be supported in practice and help you to provide quality care to your patients. You will also be supported to develop your knowledge and skills in providing acute paediatric care through our dedicated paediatric practice educator and preceptorship programme. Our workforce model will also flex to meet demands of the service over winter and summer by increasing the number of staff who can take annual leave over the summer months (March to September).

The posts will involve nursing children on elective day case lists as well as acute admissions. We are also keen to recruit registered nurses with a keen interest in working in acute assessment areas to help develop the recent extension to the ward for managing acute presentations.

Main duties of the job

  1. To assess patient's needs, plan, implement and evaluate care in accordance with the Children's Charter.

  1. To maintain contemporaneous, accurate and precise documentation relating to patient care

  1. To work within national, regional and local guidelines relating to nursing practice

  1. To take every reasonable opportunity to maintain existing clinical expertise and develop new skills as appropriate

  1. To participate in a programme of formal clinical supervision

  1. In all these respects to perform as a role model for junior staff

About us

We are always looking for enterprising and innovative approaches to the way we provide our services. We are a national centre for telemedicine and introduced telehealth to the UK offender healthcare sector and also provide the service to patients in their care homes. Community matters to us and we are supported by 400 dedicated volunteers and have strong links with Bradford University, Craven College and Leeds City College to ensure we inspire the workforce of the future.

We want to attract staff who embrace our Right Care behaviours of compassion, a commitment to quality of care and working together for patients we want to make these part of our DNA.
