LOCATION: Histopathology Department, Airedale General Hospital and other Trust sites as appropriate.
Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP is an innovative joint-venture pathology service between Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. This partnership delivers a high quality pathology service through collaboration between three Trusts for the benefit of patient and service users.
The Department of Histopathology is looking to appoint 1 enthusiastic, well- motivated Trainee Band 5 BMS who have recent experience of a functional Histopathology laboratory.
The Department of Histology is ISO15189:2012 accredited and is also a recognised HCPC / IBMS training laboratory. The successful candidate should be willing to participate in all areas of the laboratory where possible and be able to identify and be involved in service improvement.
The Histology Department at Airedale processes the work for both Airedale and Bradford. The operational aspect of the laboratory is facilitated by automated staining and the use of BOND III immunohistochemical staining platforms. Digital pathology is now functioning within the laboratory. All work is tracked using Cerebro tracking system. A non gynae cytology service is also provided.
Main duties of the job
To work in the various areas of the Histopathology Department under the direction of the Section Leader providing an efficient, safe and high quality technical service. This will include the provision of technical advice to clinical staff.
To work as part of the Pathology team providing mutual support at all times ensuring that work is completed and that equipment is maintained appropriately. This may involve liaising with service engineers to resolve complex issues.
To liaise with other health care professionals and agencies to provide advice.
To undertake and comply with all departmental standard operating procedures and quality standards with regard to work selection and methods.
