Job summary
We are looking for a deputy chief operating officer to join us at Airedale General Hospital.
The Deputy Chief Operating Officer is responsible for supporting the strategic delivery and leadership of Operational Services, and for ensuring high quality clinical services and the delivery of Trust objectives.
The post holder will establish and foster an effective working relationship with the Chief Operating Officer, Directors of Operations, Medical Divisional Directors, Directors of Nursing (Operations and Corporate), and system partners, to lead improvements in operational performance, service delivery and the achievement of organisational priorities.
They will also have a corporate leadership portfolio role which will include achievement of key constitutional standards, as well as wider performance issues, patient safety, quality, and service transformation.
They will have key leadership roles in the oversight of the RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) Decant Programme and provide operational input into the roll out of a new Electronic Patient Record.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will ensure that systems and processes are in place to comply with relevant legislation and governance requirements, linking with external bodies such as commissioners about service developments, performance, and clinical care pathways.
The post holder will deputise with full delegated responsibility for the Chief Operating Officer across the full range of responsibilities and work closely with the collaborative teams to ensure the safe and effective day to day operations of the organisation are maintained. The Deputy COO may be required to attend Trust Board to update on associated programmes of work.
The postholder will be expected to act independently, taking timely and at times, significant decisions to ensure the operational delivery for the overall organisation.
To lead on major incidents in the absence of the Chief Operating Officer.
In pursuing these duties, the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance 'Understanding the new NHS.'
