We are looking for a substantive Consultant in Urology to join us within the Surgical Directorate at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
The Trust and NHS is facing a time of transformation, challenge and opportunity. The Urology team is developing its service as part of the lighthouse project, introducing new treatments for BHP and is looking to further develop its urology investigations unit. We need a Consultant Urologist with vision and leadership skills to join our current team of enthusiastic surgeons to strengthen our team for the future.
Main duties of the job
- To deliver a high-quality Urology service to our local population.
- Maintain the provision of elective and emergency Urology care as part of the Urology team and provide comprehensive management for Urology patients.
- Possess experience and skills across a range of Urological techniques and be competent with the following procedures including, but notlimited to:o Basic Endoscopy skillso TUR Prostateo TUR Bladdero Basic diagnostic work up and therapeutic interventions for common conditionso Emergency Bladder managemento Endoscopic treatment of urinary tract stoneso Sepsis managemento Child and Young Adult Acute Scrotal Pain
- Participate regularly in clinical governance activities, teaching and in the cancer unit peer review process
- Participate in our objective achieving the local and national access waiting time targets including referral to treatment (RTT)
- Comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor & Good Medical Practice
About us
The post will be based at Airedale Hospital. Airedale NHS Foundation Trust serves a population which extends over a wide and diverse geographical and demographic area, from the Yorkshire Dales, to the small market town of Skipton, Ilkley, and urban Keighley. The hospital lies between Keighley and Skipton, only 10 miles from the multicultural city of Bradford and within an hour from Leeds.
Airedale is a national leader in the development and provision of Telemedicine and will benefit from a new hospital build due for completion by 2030.
