Job summary
The post-holder will be responsible for the provision of an effective and efficient legal service for the Trust. They will lead the operational management of clinical negligence, employer, property and public liability claims, inquests and any associated work. They will update and maintain accurate data to facilitate reporting.
The post holder will contribute to the Trust's clinical and corporate governance processes be responsible for line management of the team.
Main duties of the job
Identify potential clinical and non-clinical claims from incidents or complaints ensuring these are investigated and managed efficiently in accordance with Trust policy and procedures and the rules of the NHSR and the Early Notification Scheme (ENS).
Support staff in the pre4paration and debriefing following their attendance at Coroner's Inquests.
Provide advice to the executive team to enable them to exercise their authority to approve and agree litigation decisions, including settling claims up to the value of CNST and LTPS scheme excesses or otherwise in collaboration with NHSE. Claims above the Trust's excess limit will be undertaken in liaison with NHSR.
