Job summary
The post is pivotal to the continued development and quality of the respiratory service at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and will support the existing consultants in respiratory medicine. This post is for a substantive fixed term post in medicine.
Main duties of the job
The following provides scheduling details of the clinical activity and clinically related activity components of the job plan which occur at regular times in the week. Agreement should be reached between the appointee and their Commissioning Director with regard to the scheduling of all other activities, including the Supporting Professional Activities.
The job plan each of 10 programmed activities (PAs), will be based on The Royal College of Physicians Acute Medicine.
- 7.5 direct clinical care (DCC) PAs
- 1 DCC PA as part of contribution to the on-call general medical rota
- 1.5 PAs: continuing professional development, clinical governance, appraisal and assessment of trainees, research, teaching etc.
The post holder will be required to have a flexible approach to the post and establish the most effective way of working with colleagues in other speciality medical services and acute physicians, sharing experiences to support acute medical services.

- The principle duties of this post are to provide a comprehensive, high quality service to respiratory and general medical patients from the Airedale health economy.
- To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a doctor & good medical practice.
- To ensure that patient confidentiality and information governance is maintained at all times.
- To undertake duties as defined within the job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director and lead clinician for respiratory medicine
- To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Executive Medical Director.
- On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trusts Corporate Induction.
- To participate in the Trusts mandatory training programme
- To be responsible for the clinical management of in and out patients under your care.
- Any other duties necessary for the successful performance of the role, commensurate with the grade.

- MBChB or equivalent
- Possession of MRCP, FRCP or equivalent
- GMC Registration
- Possession of CCST / CCT in GIM (or be within 6 months of obtaining) or equivalent
- Willingness to deploy a telemedicine mode of consultations
Desirable
- Possession of a higher degree (PhD; MD) or MPhil
- Possession of a current Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support Qualification (training will be available)
- ALS Instructor

- Highly self-motivated, flexible, and able to organise time and workload in demanding NHS and academic environments

- Post-MD / PhD research experience
- An acknowledged expert for research in a particular aspect of healthcare education / clinical practice
