Qualifications

Essential

• DCRR / BSc in Radiography
• The certification in bone densitometry foundation online course
• Certificate of competence in Bone Densitometry
• HCPC registration

Desirable

• Reporting qualification

Experience

Essential

• Experience and knowledge of QA
• Knowledge of current data protection legislation
• A broad range of experience in preparing, collating, and presenting audit results to the team to improve quality
• Ability to prioritise own workload as well as that of others

Desirable

• Team leader, able to build and maintain an efficient and effective team
• Knowledge and understanding of service development

Knowledge

Essential

• Understand the use of DXA in identifying osteoporosis
• Ensure reliable scan data are recorded to inform a diagnosis and decisions around treatment
• Understand the importance/findings of other diagnostic tests /symptoms that may influence the DXA results/findings
• Knowledge in evaluation of relevant advanced knowledge of QA and audit programmes

Skills

Essential

• Ability to work using own initiative or as a part of a team
• To work within their scope of professional practice, ensuring DXA scans are undertaken and reported in a safe and competent manner, seeking advice and support when faced with complex significant or unexpected findings.
• Ability to independently scan DXA examinations
• To report DXA imaging to a high clinical standard in line with local guidelines and national guidance
• Be accountable for own professional activities using a high degree of autonomy within the limitations of personal expertise and skills
