Job summary
We recognise that Foundation Training is hard work and, whilst it provides a good base for future careers, not everyone who has completed it feels ready to commit to a specialty training scheme. With that in mind, we welcome applications from doctors taking a break from training following completion of foundation training. These posts are designed to allow post-FY2 trainees to work in a friendly and supportive ED with an excellent reputation for training (top ranked ED in West Yorkshire in latest GMC survey). The post holder will join our 12 person rota but will benefit from 20% of their time being non-clinical. This time can be used to develop special interests and previous post holders have been involved in education and simulation, quality improvement and sports medicine, for example. We believe this non-clinical time allows a less onerous work pattern and an opportunity to develop additional skills and experience. How you use your non-clinical time will be up to you but should be agreed with your clinical supervisor.
Main duties of the job
An example of the full rota, which also details the pay (which would be at CT1 level) is attached to this advert. Less than full time (LTFT) applications will be considered but applicants requesting to work LTFT will need to commit to working a proportionate share of out of hours shifts).
About us
Airedale is a small acute general hospital and community Foundation Trust with an excellent reputation for medical staff training and education. We are proud to be an associated teaching hospital of Leeds School of Medicine; we provide clinical placements in a wide range of specialties for doctors in training from foundation to specialist trainee level and we are host employer for the Airedale GP Training Programme.
As well as being a great place to work, the surrounding area is a great place to live with the hospital being located on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales but also within easy reach of Leeds and Bradford. In addition, Craven (one of the local areas) has twice been voted as the best place to live in the UK in recent years.
