Job summary
Applications are invited for a Locum Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant with a special interest in Hand and Wrist Surgery at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicant will join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department which comprises of 12 substantive consultants and a multi-disciplinary team including 4 Specialty Doctors, 4 Fellows, 2 Specialty trainees, 7 trainees on first on call rota.
We are looking for a dynamic colleague to join our department and complement the existing clinical expertise. You will be part of a friendly, forward thinking team dedicated to providing high quality care for our patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the orthopaedic team to provide a comprehensive service and continuing clinical responsibility for patients under their care. They will manage personal workload in such a way as to ensure that service contract levels are achieved and that work in excess of established contract is undertaken in accordance with the policy of the Trust.
The post holder will work with colleagues to ensure the Trust manages clinical care within the available bed complement and agreed facilities and contribute to the following:
- Mortality and morbidity meetings
- Development and application of agreed clinical guidelines
- Clinical audit
The post holder will provide advice to the Trust, to General Practitioners and other relevant parties on the provision, planning and development of the Trauma and Orthopaedic services.

Clinical experience
