LED ST4+ - FULL TIME - Fixed Term post for 6 months
EMERGENCY MEDICINE
This post is covering a training vacancy and will incorporate the same rota and training opportunities as an HST.
A new an exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the small and friendly Emergency Department at Harrogate District Hospital which has a reputation for excellence. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide support and a comprehensive acute care service within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
To support & advise junior team members on the care of their patients
To act as the Emergency Physician in Charge, (EPIC) on night shifts
To lead resuscitation teams
To undertake the initial assessment, diagnosis and management of patients in the Emergency Department (ED) according to standards, policies and guidelines set out by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine
To facilitate safe discharge or onward referral of these patients
Liaison with other specialties and agencies interfacing with the ED, including Primary Care within this process
Requesting diagnostic tests (such as X-Ray and laboratory investigations) and taking biological samples, manually and through the Trust's computerised systems
To provide advice and support to other junior staff and nursing staff within the department

The post also includes regular teaching which parallels the Emergency medicine curriculum and HST training consisting of weekly teaching sessions along with self-directed learning/CPD sessions for the equivalent of 1/2 day per week.

You will be joining a cohesive team led by 10 consultants (9.1 WTE) with a wide breadth of teaching experience and backgrounds.Successful applicants should have completed a significant length of time in postgraduate training in Emergency Medicine and/or other relevant specialties.
