Job summary
The post holder will have responsibility for an inpatient rehab unit within Ripon Community Hospital (HDFT). This is a key leadership position within HDFT.
The post holder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the ward. They will be easily identifiable to patients, relatives and all staff, providing strong, visible leadership and have the appropriate level of authority to facilitate the support, advice and assistance required by patients, their families and carers.
The post holder will be able to role model compassion in care and ensure that a caring culture is nurtured and valued highly within the team.
Learning from the patient experience to constantly drive up standards is paramount. The post holder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered and will constantly promote: patient safety, effective care and a positive patient experience at each stage of the patient's journey.
Main duties of the job
Provide strong leadership to the multi professional team encompassing medical, nursing registered and unregistered, and allied health professionals linked to the wards/department. The purpose of this will be to promote effective patient flow for both individual patient benefit and organisational effectiveness.
Work with Directorate colleagues to ensure effective communication channels are in place throughout the organisation to ensure the delivery of a seamless service. This will include developing and maintaining communication pathways and working within a multidisciplinary team.
Address the concerns of patients and service users and respond to their suggestions for local quality improvements. Lead on the effective resolution of complaints where appropriate (for own area), liaising with the Risk Management Department the Patient Experience Team as necessary.
Ensure that risk assessments are carried out to identify risks within the clinical area and prevent incidents. In conjunction with the Matron, ensure the appropriate management of clinical risk within the area. This will include aspects related to equipment and training requirements, and to Health and Safety issues ensuring a robust monitoring system is in place and clinical/ serious incidents are investigated, within an agreed timescale.

Trinity Ward at Ripon Community Hospital is a 16 bedded rehabilitation ward with two beds specifically for patients who require palliative care.

We are a small community hospital making a big difference in the Harrogate and Ripon area.
Working as part of the Multidisciplinary team, you will deliver individualised nursing and rehabilitation care to patients and will be supported by the senior nursing staff and the highly skilled therapy team. Trinity ward is committed to staff development, patient flow and promoting independence amongst patients.
We will provide robust role-related training to ensure you are supported and competent including core mandatory training. In addition, there is a wealth of clinical skills training and supervision available to you. This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week with flexible shifts pattern covering night and day.
