Job summary

To provide Speech and Language Therapy services to children with speech, language and communication needs and their families within Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust (Harrogate and Rural and Hambledon and Richmondshire areas).

Post holders could be based at either Northallerton Child Development Centre or Hambleton Wing, Northallerton bases.

Main duties of the job

The post holder independently provides a comprehensive clinical service for ages 0-19 with Speech, Language and Communication needs within the Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust footprint.

Caseload management is carried out independently.

Close liaison is maintained with education, health and social care professionals to provide integrated and relevant care packages.

To provide training, direct and indirect support to families, nurseries, schools, and health professionals.

The post holder is a member of the Speech and Language Therapy Team within HDFT. This includes providing supervision to Speech and Language Therapy Assistants as necessary.

To have extensive knowledge of all types of speech, language and communication disorders across a wide age range (0-19).

To assess clients and work directly and indirectly to deliver Speech and Language Therapy treatment programmes.

To carry out assessment as appropriate and make differential diagnosis.

To provide appropriate intervention / treatment and evaluate outcomes.

To provide advice to others regarding the management and care of patients / clients with communication difficulties (e.g. with carers and teachers).

To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures.

To produce reports / targets regarding patients needs and summarising proposed care plans.
