Acute Medicine/Elderly Medicine
This is an exciting time to join Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust which is one of the highest performing NHS Trusts in the UK.
Would you like a job that you enjoy, in a department where people strive to provide excellent quality care?
Think you've got what it takes to join us?
The Acute Medicine team is a consultant led, multi-disciplinary team for urgent and ambulatory care. The team runs the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) clinic, which offers fast, efficient ambulatory and ongoing care for patients with acute care needs. SDEC has a close and excellent working relationship with our local GP's. Community services and GP's can access SDEC Clinic directly for advice and support.
This innovative concept puts the patient first, fast tracking assessments and diagnostics, lessening delays and waits and avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions. It is leading the way in ambulatory care. The team includes 6 WTE consultants, a long term locum consultant and 5 Acute Care practitioners who support both the inpatient ward and the SDEC service department.
Main duties of the job
- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.
- To work flexibly to cover the needs of the Department
- Assisting with teaching and training of junior staff and medical students
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
About us
HDFT is a "double excellent" Foundation Trust and is the principal provider of hospital services to the population of Harrogate and Ripon and the surrounding rural district with a catchment population of 185,000.
