An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Cancer Performance Manager who is passionate about improving services for our patients. This post is offered as a 9 month secondment until February 2026.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in the operational directorates to improve performance in difference specialties. They will assist in resolving quality issues within the MDT and cancer pathways, ensuring high standards are maintained and cancer waiting time targets are adhered to including reducing the number of long-waiters, managing action plan outcomes, tracking complaint/datix updates, etc. They will line manage and provide senior support to the Cancer Pathway / Fast-Track team, leading the team in a manner that encourages striving for excellence, developing and embedding ways of working within services that deliver robust and efficient processes and comply with standard operating procedures.
The successful candidate will have operational experience and experience in presenting information at a senior level. Knowledge of cancer waiting time targets is essential as well as knowledge of governance and processes.

Main duties of the job
Lead the teams in a manner that encourages striving for excellence; provide line management, senior support and expert knowledge to the team of Cancer Pathway Co-ordinators and fast track coordinators
Develop and embed ways of working within service areas that deliver robust and efficient processes and compliance with standard operating procedures
Ensure a robust performance mechanism is in place with regards to Cancer Waiting Time standards
Champion cross directorate working and ensure productive and strong relationships exist across the service areas with all staff
Develop regular reporting mechanisms of key performance indicators and implement performance management processes where necessary to reduce errors
Deputise for the Deputy Lead Cancer Manager, taking on senior manager responsibility as required.
Assist in resolving quality issues within the MDT and cancer pathways, ensuring high standards are maintained and cancer waiting time targets are adhered to

The successful candidate will be based at Harrogate District Hospital. Harrogate itself is a small Spa town, situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is located within close proximity to Leeds and York. There is a high standard of residential accommodation and a wide range of local schools, which have an excellent national reputation in both the state and private sectors. There are numerous sporting, recreational and cultural activities available in the town or the surrounding area to suit most interests.
