Provide strategic technical direction and solution design across core technologies underpinning the clinical applications specialising in the IT Infrastructure, Telecoms & Servers.
Take the lead on Infrastructure elements of Digital projects working directly with the Trusts project managers, manage the implementation of Infrastructure projects.
Analyse, investigate and diagnose complex facts and situations when dealing with strategic or operational issues using appropriate resources to resolve the issues in a timely manner
Manage and support the end to end information infrastructure service across the organisation to ensure it is reliable, available and performs as agreed.
Main duties of the job
- Provide strategic technical direction and solution design across all core technologies, specialising in Windows Server, VMware/NSX, SAN Storage, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Defender, Veeam Backup Solutions
- Lead on designing and implementing production environments to ensure alignment with trust growth plans and project initiatives.
- Take the lead on Infrastructure elements of Digital projects working directly with the Trusts project managers, manage the implementation of Infrastructure projects.
- Manage and support the end to end information infrastructure service across the organisation, participate in the departmental on call support rota
- Engage in strategic disaster recovery planning for all design aspects of technology infrastructure.
- Pro-actively review new and emerging technologies with its subsequent application according to the Trusts business requirements, where relevant, provide input into business cases.
- Highlight areas of practice that would benefit from review or improvement. Appraise, interpret and apply suggestions, recommendations and directives which have been agreed to improve services

- MSCE Certification or 5 years in a Server Infrastructure, Telecoms Senior Support role with experience of supporting a complex multi-vendor environment.
- Ability to work proactively under own initiative, take responsibility and demonstrate leadership.
- Handling complex technical and organisational issues and constraints.
- Experience of facilitating change in practice to improve services
- Leading technical elements of projects management/co-ordination
- Leading service changes to improve performance
- Infrastructure documentation and change management concepts
- Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Virtual Environments, Backups and SAN storage to assist in supporting Business as usual and projects.
- Detailed understanding of current relevant technologies and working knowledge of clinical systems
