Job summary

Working as part of the inpatient Orthopaedic Therapy Team assisting physiotherapists and occupational therapists with the rehabilitation of patients in order to obtain and maintain maximum independence and functional ability following injury or planned orthopaedic surgery.

Main duties of the job

To deliver rehabilitation services within a multidisciplinary team to inpatients on both trauma and elective orthopaedic wards. Working closely with other professionals to ensure positive clinical outcomes and effectiveness by providing a co-ordinated service including continuity and quality of care.

To improve patient satisfaction and enhance the patient journey through the system by giving appropriate information, advice and education.

Requirements

Essential

  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent
  • Achieved or working towards a relevant qualification e.g.NVQ level 3 in Health/Social Care
  • Experience as a Physiotherapy OT / Rehabilitation assistant / Support worker or similar
  • Effective communication - written & verbal.

Desirable

  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience with the elderly/disabled
  • Knowledge of orthopaedic conditions
