Job summary
We are looking for an organised individual, for our Band 3 Administrative Assistant role, to work alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinicians, and wider team in Rheumatology. The role is 37.5 hours per week, and based in Harrogate District Hospital.
The role includes daily communication with patients, colleagues of varying skill and grade within Rheumatology and wider teams within both Primary and Secondary care. The role would suit anyone interested or experienced in chronic disease care, who would passionately and accurately coordinate patient care, bring innovation, and be a valued asset to the patients' journey and the whole team with Rheumatology.
Main duties of the job
- Provide administrative support to nurse specialists [CNS] and Clinical staff. This includes having excellent communication and interpersonal skills, excellent IT and telephony skills, the ability to work under pressure and coordinate patient care within the Rheumatology team. To follow instruction, plus work autonomously, ideally having some knowledge and experience of chronic disease care.
- Manage the repeat prescription requests received by home delivery companies. Ensure prescriptions are delivered to appropriate practitioner for checking and signing. Process signed prescriptions to ensure a seamless service for patients. Input data onto spreadsheets.
- Provide communication links between CNS, Allied health professionals, Doctors, Pharmacy, Primary care teams, Patients and Home care delivery companies.
- Input, co-ordinate, and manage excel data-bases for patients receiving biologic, bisphosphonates and subcutaneous methotrexate therapies.
- Manage a telephone/email advice line. Electronically documenting calls and actions. Provide advice relevant to competency. Allocation of calls to appropriate clinician to action. Recording of contacts daily for payment purposes.
- Assistance and co-ordination of audits where appropriate.
