Job summary
The Living with Pain & CFS Service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our experienced team providing assessmentand treatment of patients presenting with chronic pain or CFS,through a stepped care model.
The service consists of a small, friendly multidisciplinary team based primarily in Harrogate, which covers the Harrogate and Skipton localities. Patient input is provided on both an out-patient and remote working from home basis.
The post holder will benefit from supportive colleagues, including both an 8b and 8c Psychologist in the team, and close links and support with the wider HDFT Psychology Service.
This position will allow you to enjoy the benefits of close MDT working. There is the opportunity for regular supervision, group working and supporting service development.
It also offers an enormous variety of clinical experience which will enable you to use your professional psychological skills in a creative way.
Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for the provision and development of psychological care provided to the adult patients with a diagnosis of chronic pain or CFS within the service area.
- Supervise and support psychological practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with the patients often at times of high levels of distress . Ability to communicate complex and difficult information is required.
- Be expected to contribute to research, service development and clinical audit.
- Liaise and work closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and other external agencies.
- To be involved in the supervision of student/junior clinicians.
