Due to promotion of the current post holder, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced pharmacist to work at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust as an integral member of the Trust Medicines Quality and Safety Group to lead the delivery of medicines safety initiatives across the organisation.
The successful candidate will act as the Trust's Medicines Safety Officer and Professional Secretary to the Trust Medicines Quality and Safety Group. You will have the required skills to lead and manage the provision of medicines quality and safety agenda, working closely with the Trust Quality and Safety leads to ensure medication safety, good reporting culture, learning from incidents and quality improvement is a priority across the Trust. You will have the required skills to assess and manage risk, initiate and manage change and provide assurance around the safe use of medicines. You must have a keen interest in education and training.
Main duties of the job
Medicines Quality and Safety
- To promote reporting and learning of medication incidents Trust wide in line with the Just Culture approach and ensure systems are in place to learn from all medication incidents and complaints.
- To support the dissemination of medication safety communications from NHS England and the MHRA throughout the organisation
- To demonstrate awareness and commitment to the Trust's Quality Governance Framework and implement agreed priorities
- To support the Director of Pharmacy in the preparation for, and subsequent actions from, inspections from the Care Quality Commission
- To oversee and manage the pharmacy approach to risk management and clinical governance
- To be responsible for the regular upkeep of departmental risks relating the medicines quality and safety
- To be responsible for the regular upkeep of Trust risks relating to medicines quality and safety
About us
This post requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a desire to drive change and improvement in patient safety. You must have the ability to work as part of a team and lead by example. You must also be able to manage and motivate others and have the ability to engage with key stakeholders and influence the multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will part of the Pharmacy Leadership Team and will work with other Pharmacy Managers to help shape and deliver the Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services Strategy to ensure the provision of high quality patient focussed pharmaceutical care and effective medicines management. The successful candidate will Chair the Pharmacy Quality of Care Group.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the core pharmacy service including clinical pharmacy commitment, weekend and bank holiday pharmacy service and emergency duty commitment. The successful candidate will be named Lead Pharmacist for a specialty, to be agreed with the post holder.
The successful candidate will have line management responsibilities to the Lead Pharmacy Technician - Quality and Safety and the Clinical Practice Educator Nurse - Medicines Management.
