This post provides an excellent opportunity to support the Long Term and Unscheduled Care (LTUC) Directorate Team in delivering the quality and safety agenda.

Main duties of the job

Your main role is to ensure an open pathway of communication about risks, incidents and complaints. Working closely within the Head of Nursing, Operational Director and LTUC team you will:

  • Provide an immediate response to untoward events, to ensure robust clinical incident reporting mechanisms are in place throughout the directorate.
  • Support the safe delivery of operational services within the Directorate;
  • Work with the Operational Director and Head of Nursing in the planning, organising and delivery of the Directorate's quality objectives;
  • Liaise with Consultants, Directors, Senior Managers, Matrons and nursing teams on service quality and governance; analyse and interpret national quality standards, performance data, local and national statistics providing analytical feedback to Directorate performance and quality reviews and future planning;
  • Support the monitoring of Directorate targets/health care standards raising awareness to potential problems and taking positive action where necessary.
  • Maintain robust management of the Directorate's complaints and incident reporting and response processes
  • Provide high visibility of the Directorate's quality performance measures and any risks to safe delivery of patient care
  • Providing assurance of ongoing learning
