LAS Tier 2 Doctors in Elderly Medicine

Full-time Fixed Term for 6 months

We are looking for two enthusiastic LAS Tier 2 Doctors to join our Elderly Medicine Team. This is a fixed term contract for a period of 6 months from Aug 2023. The post-holder will work primarily with the Elderly Medicine team at Harrogate District Hospital. The post-holders will be required to undertake routine work on the frailty wards supporting junior staff under the supervision of the consultant Elderly Medicine physicians and provide a 1:8 on-call rota to support the Acute take out of hours.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will work as part of the Elderly Medicine team who offer high quality, safe and efficient care to the population of Harrogate and District and have close and excellent working relationships with our local GPs.

The successful applicant will join a team of 11 Consultants, based at Harrogate District Hospital, you will be part of a team delivering a high quality, rapidly developing service which prides itself on team working and close collaboration with MDT colleagues. All applicants must hold current GMC registration.

About us

The Spa town of Harrogate is surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Dales, with excellent facilities in the area for sports and outdoor activities. There is a healthy nightlife with a number of popular bars and restaurants within the town centre and the city hosts a number of annual events such as The Yorkshire Show, The Annual Flower Show and several sporting events.

Major cities Leeds and York are conveniently close. The area also offers a choice of outstanding local schools.

Harrogate tops a recent small trust research league table, and research interests are supported by a team of dedicated research nurses.

The Trust has an excellent Postgraduate Medical Centre which carries a full programme of events including and offers access to a Medical Library and a Clinical Skills Lab with high fidelity simulation facilities. The post is non-training; however, opportunities for development will be available.
