Job summary

Harrogate district and foundation trust are pleased to invite applicants to come and work as part of our team here on the Swaledale Acute Frailty Unit. We are and 18 bedded unit with 2 Frailty to Assessment beds. The ward takes direct admissions and our frail patients receive rapid assessment from our specialist geriatrician consultants and Supportive Discharge Service. Our main goal is to ensure patients are assessed quickly, treatment given discharged home safely at the earliest opportunity with appropriate support or transferred to a longer stay frailty ward within the hospital.

We are a new ward with a motivated and diverse team. Here are some of the comments from our AFU team

'I have worked on various other wards within the trust but it wasn't until I came to AFU that my confidence grew. This was because of the support that I received not only from my colleagues but also the fantastic support I received from both the ward manager and matron that allowed me to flourish and reach my true potential as a nurse'

'AFU is a lovely environment to work on it can get very busy but the staff all work together as a team and are attentive and supportive'

Harrogate District Trust offer a 2year preceptorship course to all newly qualified nurses and oversees applicants.

Main duties of the job

As a Trust we offer our Registered Nurses:

  • Highly recommended two-year Preceptorship Programme and your first year of NMC fees paid
  • 4 weeks supernumerary and ongoing mentoring
