Job summary

The dietetic team at Harrogate hospital is looking for a new Professional lead for Nutrition and Dietetics who will have a history of leading dietetic teams, a passion for the profession and a drive for innovation.

The service currently consists of 21 staff with 3 associate practitioners and 17 dietitians. The team deliver dietetic care across the district community for both adults and children, as well as acute in-patients, acute paediatrics, and out-patients. There are specialist clinical posts in ICU, Home Enteral Feeding, nutrition support, neurology, stroke, diabetes, paediatrics, gastroenterology and cancer care as well as an experienced band 7 leadership team.

Main duties of the job

To provide leadership to all Nutrition & Dietetic Service staff in Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust. To provide leadership on professional strategic development issues and implications for clinical governance, workforce, education, and training issues to ensure the workforce is fit for purpose.

To act as the professional advisor to the Trust on nutritional matters, working collaboratively with senior colleagues to ensure governance and policy around nutritional care is robust and in line with national standards

To provide high level clinical care to specific patient groups depending upon area of expertise and knowledge.

As a Professional Lead within HDFT you will work closely with the Trust Strategic AHP lead and other profession specific leads. There is support for professional development and you will be encouraged to participate in wider AHP projects at both local and regional level.

  • To provide operational and professional leadership and support to dietitians within Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust
  • To champion Nutrition & Dietetics and lead its contribution to service delivery within the Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust
  • To provide leadership to the Trust on nutrition related matters including acting as the chair of Trust Nutrition Steering Group, contributing to the Trust Food & Drink Strategy and raising the profile of nutritional care
