Job summary

We are looking for someone who is organised, friendly and approachable with administration experience to work as ward clerk within the Paediatric department. Woodlands ward is a 16 bedded general paediatric inpatient unit with an integrated assessment area. We are open 24 hours a day but looking for a ward clerk who would work office hours, Monday to Friday with some flexibility possible around the start and finish time of ward clerk hours. If you are adaptable, work well both within a team and alone then please apply. You would work alongside a Band 2 team who can support the ward clerk role on night shifts and at the weekend while there is no rostered ward clerk.

Woodlands ward is a Paediatric 16 bedded ward with an additional clinical assessment unit for general medical and surgical paediatric patients as well as day admissions. The unit can be a busy unit and therefore we are looking for someone who can multi task well and is organised. Please feel free to contact for further detail.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as a member of the paediatric team carrying out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse.
  • To assist the nursing staff in the in the implementation and evaluation of family centred care and reporting any concerns to the Registered Nurse.
  • To work as an integrated member of the ward team, assisting with nursing procedures according to agreed policies
  • To act as a host and receptionist to children, their families and visitors
  • To demonstrates due diligence whilst maintaining and promoting effective working practices commensurate with the post.
  • Maintains confidentiality relating to the welfare and treatment of patients and staff at all times.
  • To be flexible to work in different areas within the unit as required
