Job summary
Following service redesign, this post offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the acute team at Harrogate District Hospital, specialising in respiratory, cardiology and surgical conditions. This post would be ideal for an experienced band 5 or someone at band 6 level, who has a passion for the above specialities.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to become involved in the ongoing development of a proactive and forward-thinking team. You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and be offered opportunities to develop and enhance your existing clinical skills, with lots of senior support and access to in house and external training.
Occupational therapy will be provided as a deliverable intervention which aims to support individuals through their personal and meaningful recovery, to return to ordinary lives and daily occupations. The post requires collaborative working with the MDT and wider teams and encourage applications from individuals who want to provide high-quality, evidence-based services to individuals.
Applicants should be flexible, highly motivated, with the ability to adapt to the changing demands of this developing service.
Main duties of the job
- To carry a variable clinical caseload of patients providing occupational therapy assessments addressing occupational therapy performance, skills deficits, self-maintenance and cognitive function.
- To provide rehabilitation and advice to patients in the hospital setting, to enable them to achieve their optimum level of independence and quality of life
- To work with clients, carers, relatives and colleagues to identify, plan, develop and implement OT patient goals as part of an overall care plan.
- To plan and implement individual interventions, in collaboration with the client, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
- To work independently under the guidance of the senior staff within the team and actively participate in the professional development of self and others.
- To provide supervision and support to the band 5 Occupational Therapist.
- To seek and gain support from the Occupational Therapy Professional Lead
- To take a responsible place in the multi-disciplinary team promoting the role of Occupational Therapy and taking an active part in team projects.
- To take a lead in student supervision.
- To take a lead on service improvement projects.
