Job summary

The Assistant Theatre Practitioner role is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team working within the operating theatre environment. They will perform circulating and scrub roles for a predetermined number of procedures within an agreed scope of practice, working alongside Surgeons and Registered Practitioners to provide a safe and high quality environment for service users.

The purpose of this role will be to undertake the NVQ level 3 in Perioperative Practice whilst working as a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW). The training requirements will be discussed and agreed at interview.

The training will run over six months-year, in this time you will be expected to complete academic modules, work based assessments and a practice portfolio.

Main duties of the job

Initially this will be a training post. Once this training is completed the Assistant Theatre Practitioner (ATP) will become part of the surgical team. Scrubbing for a range of cases across a number of different specialities

  • Committed to commence and complete appropriate Foundation Degree within agreed time frame

Experience
