Job summary

This is a rare and much sought after opportunity to contribute to the leadership of services within the Long Term and Unscheduled Care Directorate at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT). We are seeking an experienced Service Manager, who will be integral in the safe, effective and efficient running of clinical services within their given portfolio. The post holder will work closely with colleagues as part of a triumvirate (clinical, nursing and managerial) team, overseen by a general manager. Together the triumvirate will be responsible and accountable for the quality, performance and financial delivery for all elements of their given portfolio.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will take a proactive and engaged approach to all that they do. They will lead by example, demonstrating and championing the core values of Harrogate and District NHS foundation trust: Kindness, Integrity, Teamwork and Equality.

The Service manager is expected to:

  • Work closely with their triumvirate to develop and improve their services to be safe, effective and efficient
  • Be accountable for the sustained delivery of key operational service standards, and be responsible and accountable for delivering financial budgets.
  • Work collaboratively to develop and monitor service and workforce plans
  • Develop capacity and business planning models for the services within the given portfolio
  • To ensure the appropriate management of risk within their given services, taking a proactive approach to risk mitigation
  • Contribute to and support 'flow' through the acute hospital site directly, and by working collaboratively with other services
