Job summary

Are you keen to work in a supportive dietetic team and build your experience in nutrition support (both inpatient and care homes) and oncology?

Due to a restructure within the department we have an exciting opportunity for a Dietitian to join the team on a band 5 to 6 progression. The progression will be dependent on meeting competencies, as well as taking into account current experience

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be covering our Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre with support from our experienced Macmillan Dietitian. This is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge in this specialist field.

Your caseload will include covering wards at Harrogate Hospital, including respiratory, general medicine, orthopaedic and elderly medicine. You will also have opportunity to develop skills in intensive care and parenteral nutrition with support from the Specialist Dietitian. You will be involved closely with the catering department as a key link between them and the ward team, with support from the Acute Team Lead. You will also have the opportunity to continually evaluate the ward referral pathway and support our invaluable ward nutrition assistants.

The post holder will cover care homes in the area, providing nutritional support to their residents. This will be alongside our dedicated and supportive care home team. You will be supporting the care homes with our training and education programme as well as being involved in audit and care pathway redesign when needed.

The post holder will also contribute to other departmental projects, audits and supervision.

The wider dietetic department offers excellent support for professional development and participates in the training of student dietitians on A, B and C placements.

The post is based at Harrogate District Hospital which is a 400 bed, friendly hospital located in a thriving, attractive spa town, close to the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. The cities of Leeds and Bradford and historic York and Ripon are all within commuting distance. It is a high performing NHS Foundation Trust.
