Job summary
This 12-month post gives an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic part time Occupational Therapist to join the recently formed team working with adults recovering from Covid 19.
This is a great development opportunity for both experienced band 5 staff or an existing band 6 to support the development of this new and exciting area of work to meet the unprecedented demands of the Covid 19 pandemic, and HDFT secondment requests will be considered.
This is an excellent and motivating opportunity for the right candidate to become involved in the ongoing development of a proactive and forward-thinking team. You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and be offered opportunities to develop and enhance your existing clinical skills.
Occupational therapy will be provided as a deliverable intervention which aims to support individuals through their personal and meaningful recovery to return to ordinary lives and daily occupations. An essential commitment to the assessment of occupational needs with the therapeutic use of occupation-based intervention is core to this role.
The occupational therapist will work as part of Harrogate District Hospital's response to Covid 19 through collaborative working and focusing on the provision of high-quality evidence-based services to individuals and groups.
Applicants should be flexible, highly motivated with the ability to adapt to the changing demands of this new service.
Main duties of the job
- To carry a variable clinical caseload of patients providing occupational therapy assessments addressing occupational therapy performance, skills deficits, self-maintenance and cognitive function.
- To provide rehabilitation and advice to patients either at home or in a clinic setting to enable them to achieve their optimum level of independence and quality of life
- To work with clients, carers, relatives and colleagues to identify, plan, develop and implement OT patient goals as part of an overall care plan.
- To plan and implement individual interventions, in collaboration with the client, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
- To work independently under the guidance of the senior staff within the team and actively participate in the professional development of self and others.
- To seek and get support from the Occupational Therapy Professional Lead
- To take a responsible place in the multi-disciplinary team promoting the role of Occupational Therapy and taking an active part in team projects.
