Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and responsible SCPHN Family Health School Nurse to work within our new 6 - 25 Family Health Service contract in County Durham.

Main duties of the job

To plan deliver and evaluate an efficient and cost effective School Nursing service for an

identified school age population within a defined geographical school cluster. To provide line

management and leadership within the School Nurse team and be pro-active in delivering the

National and Public Health agendas in response to identified health and social need, to work

in partnership with other agencies in order to improve health outcomes for children and their

families and meet agreed standards objectives and statutory requirements

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with NMC
  • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Qualification (HV)/ SN) at postgraduate diploma level or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge relevant to working with children and families underpinned by theory and experience.
  • Mentorship.
  • Nurse Prescribing.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of partnership working Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Sound knowledge and experience of promoting the Safeguarding and wellbeing of children
  • Evidence of leadership
  • Experience of staff management.

Desirable

  • Experience in leading teams in the provision of health services to children, young people and families
