Job summary

Are you keen to work in a supportive gastroenterology MDT and build your experience in the dietetic management of gastrointestinal conditions?

Due to developments within the gastroenterology service at HDFT (which include a multidisciplinary hepatology clinic, planned recruitment of new consultants and starting a new dietetic-led service for adults with Coeliac Disease), we have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Dietitian to join our dietetic team. The successful candidate will lead the dietetic input to the hepatology clinic, including producing dietetic resources and guidelines.

This post is an excellent opportunity to develop your experience and knowledge base in gastroenterology. The post holder will also contribute to other departmental projects, audits and supervision.

Main duties of the job

This post is primarily outpatient clinic based but may include review of patients on the wards when admitted. It is hoped that additional hours will be available following the submission of further business cases.

The post holder will cover general dietetic gastroenterology clinics advising patients with IBD, IBS, Coeliac Disease, liver disease, food intolerances etc and referrals for nutritional support. FODMAP experience is desirable but not essential and there is the opportunity to be trained in the low FODMAP diet.

About us

We work closely with the gastroenterologists and IBD and hepatology specialist nurses. There is the opportunity to develop joint working and MDT clinics. The gastroenterology dietitians attend regular Gut Clubs with the team (MDT educational sessions and sharing of interesting patient cases, new guidance and projects)

The wider dietetic department offers excellent support for professional development and participates in the training of student dietitians on A, B and C placements.
