Macmillan Health & Wellbeing Support Officer
The closing date is 27 April 2026
Job summary
We are recruiting a Macmillan Health & Wellbeing Support Officer as maternity cover for our Cancer Wellbeing Service, a non-clinical Information & Support service which provides a wide range of support to people affected by cancer. This role is available on a fixed-term or secondment basis.
You will be based at our new Macmillan Cancer Care Centre at York Hospital, providing a mix of ad hoc and structured support to service users affected by cancer. This could include understanding and addressing their emotional, physical, financial, or practical concerns, or could be as simple as providing a listening ear and someone for them to talk to about their experiences. Alongside this, you will be expected to share relevant information resources to help meet service users' needs and offer signposting and/or referrals to partner organisations. You may also be asked to cover the service at Scarborough Hospital or other community locations, so you must be open to travel across Trust sites as part of your role.
We are keen to hear from individuals with experience of working in cancer support, although this is not essential provided you have a passion for and evidenced interest in supporting people affected by cancer. The role is supported by Macmillan Cancer Support, meaning you will become a Macmillan Professional and gain access to various benefits and opportunities.
We encourage interested candidates to contact the recruiting manager prior to applying to discuss the role.
