We are looking to welcome applications for Consultants in Geriatric Medicine to join our friendly, dynamic and enthusiastic team based at York Hospital. We are recruiting for a retirement and are keen to develop our services wider especially into surgical liaison.
Our department encompasses a number of specialist services, including Frailty Assessment and frailty SDEC, Specialist Hip Fracture and Orthopaedic Liaison, Parkinson's Care, Dementia and Delirium unit, community rehabilitation and Hospital @Home.
The posts are offered as 10 programmed activities (PAs) over four days and currently include an on-call commitment of 1 in 12 for frailty medicine. We are open to discuss any specific or specialised job plans that candidates may desire, including flexible/less than full time working. - Hold a license to practise with the General Medical Council
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Geriatrics via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) - CESR or - European Community Rights (Within 6 months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCT or equivalent)
Desirable
- MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research
- Experience of teaching lay groups and paramedical staff
Mentoring and Teaching
Essential
- Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
- Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings

- Experience of supervising Specialist trainees
Clinical practice/ competence

- Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and skill in the specialty
