Senior Pharmacy Technician - Clinical Trials and Aseptics

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and self motivated individual to help with our growing portfolio of clinical trials.

In this collaborative role you will be linked between Pharmacy Clinical Trials and Aseptics , facilitating in the delivery of clinical trials especially those which have IMP prepared within the aseptic unit.

Experience of one of the specialist areas (clinical trials or aseptics) would be preferable, although you will be supported by an experienced and established Pharmacy Clinical Trials team and Aseptic Team.

This role is band 4-5 or starting band 5 depending on previous and relatable experience to the role.

The changing horizon of clinical trials with the development of advanced therapeutic medicines means this is an exciting time to be involved in clinical trials!

Please note: the interview will take place on Wednesday, 10th September 2025.

Main duties of the job

The role of the successful candidate would include:

  • To co-ordinate pharmaceutical aspects of clinical trials prepared in the aseptic unit.
  • To ensure the provision of a quality pharmaceutical dispensing service to patients of the Trust with regard to clinical trials and aseptic services.
  • To maintain and develop the aseptic and clinical trial services to ensure smooth running of the clinical trials.
  • Train others on sponsor specific procedures for aseptic preparation of IMP.
  • Answer queries from Sponsors, Research Teams, R&I and PI's. Escalate, resolve or delegate as necessary.
  • Review protocols and study documentation
  • Manage and prioritise own workload.
  • Maintain GCP, professional registration and other mandatory training.
  • Dispense and ACT clinical trials prescriptions.

Essential

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Desirable

  • QCF Level 4 or above in a qualification relevant to the post
