Alcohol Dependency Nurse

Job summary

Are you a passionate and experienced nurse, driven to lead innovative changes in the delivery of alcohol services?

Could you play a key role in designing and piloting an alcohol care team?

You will work with Trust colleagues and a range to external partners.

Main duties of the job

You will have the unique opportunity to work closely with the Programme Manager, to create a business case and delivery model for a new Alcohol Care Team. As such you will create a vision and structure for this brand new initiative at York with potential for longer term, Trust wide services. This role will include positively influencing organisational improvements in screening, identification, documentation and reporting of alcohol related admissions.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, leading on all aspects of care including; prevention, harm minimisation, effective management of adverse physical & psycho-social consequences of alcohol (mis)use. You will focus on avoiding unnecessary admissions by improving the care and management of patients where alcohol detoxification and withdrawal occur.

As a specialist in this area of care, through evidence based practice you will drive improvements within patient pathways. This post holder will be a visible Champion for all areas of clinical management, ensuring compassionate & consistent care is delivered. You will provide bespoke training and awareness within the organisation to help reduce stigma and improve confidence in clinical management.
