Job summary
We have a vacancy for a Permanent Band 4 Associate Practitioner to join our friendly Virology Team at Hull Royal Infirmary. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team, who we expect will be able to help us provide an efficient, high quality Microbiology / Virology Diagnostic Service.
This vacancy is being funded by NHS England as part of a pilot study for opt out BBV testing in ED - running for 6 months.

The successful candidate will be able to be flexible in order to meet the service needs. You will work a shift pattern consisting of early, day and late shifts. This includes weekend and bank holiday cover. Further detail about the shift patterns can be discussed at interview.
This vacancy will be considered for a secondment opportunity. Please note - if you would like your application to be considered for secondment, you must secure agreement from your line manager beforehand that you can be released to undertake the role.
This post may become Permanent at the end of Fixed Term/Secondment.
Main duties of the job
The post holders will perform a range of complex tasks in closely defined areas comparable with a Biomedical Scientist. The post holder will receive and make telephone enquiries and take and give results to other healthcare professionals. The successful candidate is also expected to perform some reception, Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) and clerical duties.
The post holder will use their individual judgment to make decisions that will have an impact on the provision of accurate and timely reports within available resources.
The post holder will also be expected to support, advise and train less experienced staff such as trainees, students and Band 2 MLAs and to ensure that personal proficiency and competence are maintained.
