An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the growing team of over 30 Dietitians in York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as a Dietitian based at Scarborough Hospital. You will be joining a forward thinking department which is valued and respected throughout the Trust, and crosses many specialties.
We will support you to develop skills across many areas of acute inpatient work across the medical and surgical care groups.
The ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy.
If you are currently employed by the Trust and you wish to apply for this role on a secondment basis, please seek permission from your current line manager before applying for the post.
Please note: This post may become Permanent at the end of Fixed Term/Secondment
Main duties of the job
You will have the opportunity to work with many experienced Dietitians, as well as within broader multi-professional teams. You will be working with other Dietitians, Dietetic Support Workers and Assistant Practitioners, and together you will provide inpatient services across areas, including General Medicine, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Care of the Elderly, Stroke, and Renal disease.
Within the acute setting, in addition to oral nutrition support, you will be able to develop clinical skills working with patients requiring enteral tube feeding and parenteral nutrition.
You will mainly be working within Scarborough Hospital, however there will also be the opportunity to work cross-site when required, including at York Hospital.
The department places a strong emphasis on clinical and peer support and clinical supervision, and has a well-established programme facilitating the training of Dietetic students on the three clinical placements included within their training. We are also involved in delivering a variety of rolling training programmes for other healthcare professionals across the Trust, relating to nutritional care.
The successful candidate will be involved in these important aspects of supporting the learning and development of others.
